reality TV should not be banned. without reality tv, others will not be able to see the plight that others suffer and go to extremes to get to.
There are two different sides of reality tv. There could be the up side where reality tv itself shows the true enduring human spirit, where people try to make or break their dreams, one example are the perseverence of contestants that join over and over again for singapore idol. One may look at this situation and think that it is naieve to do so but some may think likewise and tribute it to the true human spirit of endruance.
One may hoeever think likewise and think that reality tv is a mockery for people to be on. This is because people who do not make the cut for a certain programn such as singapore idol will be "Branded" like william hung or "the careless whisperer"
The media however capitalizes on this and thus comes a different form of reality tv. With reality TV they would only show the good, bad and the ugly. Lets face it, everyone loves to feel good about themselves. Thus when reality TV shows someone that is deemed as lower then us, we would feel good.
Some would look forward to reality TV shows to gain confidence to feel better about themselves.

Reality TV might makeno sense. But however, they do show the ugly side of human behaviour. In many reality shows, im sure you can see what contestants do just to win a contest or to get their fame.
Is it that reality TV shoud be banned jus because of its display of ugly nature of human behaviour?
I beg to differ

I think that reality tv should not be banned although it shows the negative side of being a human being. I think that by watching reality tv we can learn about life and also learn from the mistakes the people in the reality tv made. Therefore it is up to oneself to think of how reality tv affects the viewer.

reality tv should not be banned because some people are willing to sacrifice their bodies to receive a massive amount of prize money if they win at the end of the show. Viewers enjoy the thrill and excitement they get from watching people suffer which will boost tv ratings. It is one way to bring new faces into the film-making industry and make them famous. That is why i think reality tv should not be banned for the sick of those frail hearted.

How real is reality TV these days?
I do not believe that it should be banned though.
I just feel that it should be as real as what we see and feel out in the real world today.
Personally, i feel that the only few shows that should be called reality shows are 'Project Runway' and 'The Apprentices', for they are the closest to what really happens in the society, with competition.

no i don agree to the motion that rality tv sholud be banned. this is so as viewrs are able to experience the outdoor fun that are happening such as the show survivor and the amazing race. other shows like the apprentices, a good show business, brings out the quality of a businessmen and from there viewers can pick up some tips on how to be a business men or start their own business. project runway on the other hand brings out the creativity in a person and it can make the person famous with the good design and all. so ya, it should not be banned..

I definitely do not agree that reality tv should be banned.
They although do show the ugly side of human being however they do educate us in some other ways.
Like "FEAR FACTOR", although the show has gross scene, like eating insects,(scenes that have insects will make me feel gross) ,etc, but it shows how human overcome their own fear.Plus, you can see through this show to see whether you are afraid of this fear or not.
They produced many different fears for the contestants to face and let the viewers to see how they overcome. For me, it is a good intention.
Just for this "FEAR FACTOR",I do not agree that Reality TV should be banned as it really shows how human overcome each and different difficulty.

I do not agree that reality TV should be banned. Even though reality TV which are being aired are not informative at all. Futhermore, the TV shows are not as real as reality. However, it is still a form of entertainment, which do not cause any harm to others. It simply shows hoe does people normally react to a situation which others could have never thought of. It is interesting in a way.

reality tv should not b banned. they are jus forms of entertainment to ppl and some shows like hte apprentice and project runaway can even provide viewers some insight to the difficulties of the job and they can learn a thing or two from watching these shows.
there are some reality tv shows like fear factor which i believe are only for entertainment purposes.it jus shows how far people are willing to go jus for money. it could actually teach us a ting or two abt greed.
reality tv does no harm to anybody, unless ur stupid enough to go eat like a cockroach or smth and comfort urself into thinking tt u could hav won that million dollars. LOL. all in all reality tv is jus for entertainment and shouldnt b banned. its fun to watch other than the poor entertainment provided on local television..ops..ok bye

i dont agree reality tv should be banned.
It just like we are viewing the world, how people react on differnt type of situation, it does no harm to anyone, it just that the person agree to accept the challenge him/herself. i mean sometime the reailty tv bring to lifestye as well example like project runway, show how a designer be creative and let the client agree and accept their idea. This is interesting to show then those drama show.

No. Reality TV should not be banned. It is the best way to show how real this society can be. Reality TV such as Survivor, project runway and American next top model also shows the creativity and the behavior of human nature. Through Reality TV we can learn lots of things.

From an objective point of view, reality tv is as bad as what mosts most skeptical critics think. True enough it is rather the portrayal of moral decadence in our conservative Asian society, however i beg to defer. From another perspective, we are exposed to the reality of life, which is not a bed of roses. It also serves as a wake up call for many. For instance, the notion of ideal beauty is perceived and fashioned in a stereotyping manner. The truth about dog-eat-dog society is patently revealed to us. In actual fact, we learnt alot from the not wholly scripted shows.
