    I agree with the statement.

Technology has made it sample and easy for people to communicate through the internet. Taking for instance, by creating a blog people can simply made comments on certain issues or topics. So there should be some form of restriction so as to prevent users from being malicious towards someone or something.

I disagree that having censorship is to prevent children accessing to the wrong site. I believe that if someone want to view pornagraphic websites, he or she will have their ways even if these websites are banned. Instead i think that parents should teach their kids on whats right and whats wrong.

I agree with Candy that technology has made it easier for communication. This means that things that are of bad values are also easily accessible to the young ones, like pornography. There has been attempts to restrict youngsters from entering such websites, but I feel that its purpose is not fully served. For example, if the age restricition for a pornographic website is 18, children below that age can just easily identify themselves as above 18 simply by just clicking any button to enter the website.
Thus I think it will be pretty difficult to implement censorship on the internet.

well, this is easier said then done.

it is difficult to have censorship in the internet, as the technology these days is very advance and people have many means or ways in posting pornographic websites and stuff.

it boils down to ones conscience on weather to go to such websites or not.

i certaintly agree with Yunxin's comment.

Why do we do something that will only indirectly stop one of the ways to view websites like-pornographics?

Why are we not going into the real problem that still remain unchanged? Mindset! we should teach the teenagers the values one should possess and not to stop it. If they desired to go into such websites, no point having a censorship! Thay can still resort to other ways. Isn;t it worse if it became something illegal? Upon having a censorship only solve the 'outer' issue and not the root of the problem!

Definately yes! I believe there are many youngsters on the net. As they are youngsters, they might be misleaded and might end up doing the wrong things. If they end up doing the wrong things, what wuld happen to them when they grow older? The society at large would be affected by such situation.

I agree with Pei Ying that we should solve the root of this problem.

Firstly, I feel that youngsters, especially those in their young teens are normally curious. Therefore, it is the parents responsibility to educate thier children on such moral values.

However, implementing censorship would be extremely difficult as the pornography business is a multi-million dollar industry(alike tobacco).

Therefore in my opinion, I feel it is still up to one's census if they should view pornography.

From the oberservation of many opinions, I have noticed that they have related censorship towards pornography.

However, there are others forms of undesireable websites such as those with extreme gore and violence, drugs or webpages with racists comments.

Such websites, are really the ones which have to be censored, as they may cause young people to be influenced into such thoughts. The consequences would then be undesireable.

I would like to further contribute ways in which we could enhance censorship on the internet.

As we have all seen, flims are rated with either G,Pg,NC16,M18 or R21. Perhaps the world wide web could rate the websites accordingly to the applicable age that can view the website.

I would like to further reiterate that it is only a guideline to remind young users, that this site may not be suitable for them. However, it is still their own decision after all.
