Our group does not agree that there should be censorship on the internet.
We assume that people can still fake their ages or other personal details to get into certain restricted websites.
Even with censorship on the internet, there are still other sources like magazines and dvds with undesirable content, it all boils down to the individual's moral character. Thus it is useless to enforce censorship on the internet. Instead, we should focus on education to tackle the problem of accessing immoral content on the internet.

I agree with Huijun that it all boils down to the person’s moral character.
The Internet is widely accessible. New websites with undesirable content can be set up everyday. How many of these websites can MDA block? If 2 websites are blocked today, 7 new websites can be set up next day. It is just like an endless cycle.
Thus, it is useless trying to force censorship on the Internet. Instead, spent the time educating the young generation on positive moral character.

I agree that there should be censorship on the internet.
It is true that it is difficult to censor every immoral contents on the internet, however i agree with Janna that making a small difference is better than nothing at all.
At least, it gives the underage a minute or two to think if they should still get into the rescricted webs or not.
I must agree that education is very important to tackle the problems of accessing immoral content on the internet.
However, I think that there is certainly no harm of enforcing censorship on the internet.

Hello everyone.
I have the same thinking as Hui Jun and Yvonne. To censor the content on the internet is a little too much of a gargantuan task to be effectively carried out.
And while some may argue that a small difference is better than nothing, it is ultimately not going to be very effective in blocking out indecent content to the young. No harm trying though.
As the Chinese idiom goes, censorship will only "remedy the surface but not the root" (zhi biao bu zhi ben). Education will be a much more viable solution than censorship.

Abosulutely true, as what Wei Jiang has reliterated.
Imposing censorship on the internet, regardless of the content will simply take up too much resources looking at how enormous the internet actually is. And will be a neverending task. Who is to do it? Is an independent body going to be appointed to simply censor material on the internet? Who is to say what can and cannot be censored? Who is going to sponsor the people censoring? Is this an infringement of freedom of speech?
Censorship, again, is controversal in the sense that be it pornography or politics, it is man's way to ignore the problem at hand, rather than to fix it.

i do agree there should be censorship on the internet.
i feel that, nowadays, teens have great access to the internet and we get most of our information from there. if one were to access to undesirable information such as pornography sites as well as gambling online sites, it would affect the young's thinking. i feel that most of the websites such as porn or gambling have buttons saying "i admit im over 21, and that my religion blah blah.." as if that is gonna stop any kids from accessing the site. if the site is blocked, using the parental control thingy, probably it will stop kids or teens surfing such info. at least do something , it is better than nothing is done.
