I disagree that reality TV should be banned.

Reality TV does bring out the ugly side of human nature like Janna has mentioned. However, this exists in every day’s life. Reality TV only amplifies this, but does not encourage immoral conduct.

Reality TV does have its pros as well. It also does film down the positive side of human nature. To see some participant’s determination to get through the obstacles in their way or to choose love over wealth, isn't it inspiring as well?

Therefore, it wouldn't be fair to ban reality TV just because it shows the ugly side of human nature which actually can be seen every day in our society.

    Hello.

The idea of banning reality TV is kind of ridiculous. Just because some of it showcases how conniving humans can be isn't a good enough reason to ban it. Besides, not all reality TV shows aim to show the ugly side of humanity.

I have recently been watching this reality TV show, Worlds Apart (Channel 19, AXN). It is about bringing average American families to rural places in the world to live with a local family for 10 days. This show not only educates the public on different cultures in the world, but is also heartwarming in the sense that the families bond over that period of time.

I don't see why such a show should be banned along with the rest of Reality TV. It is simply not a good idea.

Reality TV is a relatively broadterm. But I must say that I do not see any logical reason to ban Reality TV.

Those that feel like watching reality TV shows will simply laugh at the irony of it, or empathise with the scenes on screen, viewers are also expected to portray various reactions to the scenes.

True, reality TV isn't truely about 'everyday' life, but then again, this IS the entertainment industry, and well, that's showbiz.

Lastly, there is absolutely no pressure on anyone at all to watch reality TV. There are hundreds of other channels for the viewer to choose to watch out there and reality tv would simply be just one of it.

So there is really no reason for the reality TV to get banned.

I think that reality Tv should not be banned.

Reality Tv shows have their pros and cons. Other than showing the cruel and evil side of the participants, they also have entertainment and educational values. The shows teach people to preserve for their dreams although they faces difficulties and critism

Thus there isn't any neccessary to ban the shows.

I personally feel that reality TV should not be banned.

In my opinion I feel that what is the use of watching TV if Reality TV is banned. They are just providing us entertainment and excitement when we feel bored.

If those adults are afraid that their children will get influenced by the violence of Reality TV, they can sit down and talk to their children telling them the dangers of imitating the people in Reality TV.

They also provide us educational knowledge as some of the shows like wei jiang had mentioned, provide us with more cultural knowledge which will help us advance in our school work.

Therefore I strongly feel that Reality TV should not be banned.

Reality TV should not be banned.

It allows people to see what kind of unexpected things that can actually happen in the real world.

Even though reality Tv is probably like any other entertainment shows, i feel that it is much better than those local variety shows.

I agree with Wei jiang, that some reality Tv educates the public on different cultures in the world.

Therefore, reality Tv should not be banned.

We should be exposed to as much reality TV programmes in fact. I personally think that if we ban reality TV,people would not be able to see the ugly side of the world,we would only be trapped in our own world. Although Reality TV might makeno sense, but still, it teaches us the ugly side of human. So let's accept the fact tht reality TV is educational in a way.

I feel that reality TV should not be banned. There is nothing wrong with it as it just protrays to the audience reality. So, it should be banned only if reality is a bad influence. If so, I wonder what kind of world we are living in.

Reality TV is just a form of entertainment with no harm intended. So, why ban it?

Ban reality tv? No way! Reality tv has revolutionised tv and is the biggest thing that has happened to tv in quite some time. Nothing has ever shaken up tv the way reality tv has. The very fact that we are having a discussion about it is a testimony to its extensive reach. Ever since the birth of reality tv, tv watching has never been the same again. Viewers have been tickled by the antics of contestants and amazed by the talents of their countrymen. They have been brought to all the corners of the world without even stepping out of their houses. Reality tv should thus not be banned for it is both entertaining and educatonal.

people. lets just face it. dont we all laugh at the people who make themselves look like clowns on reality tv? singapore idol,do you think you can dance, superstar etc. all these are hot favourites among tv programmes. these are just pure entertainment. why think of it as a negative influence, as a bad thing? it just portrays out the ugly side of human nature, or should i say, a real side of human nature? it shows us what a person would do to win, what a person can achieve when set his/ her mind on something. it shows determination and everything. isnt its good points good enough to override the not so good points.
give reality tv a break, its just entertainment, nothing big deal.
i still wanna watch so u think u can dance. its nice!
