Project work is the best form of assessment.
I do not agree with this statement.
Project work itself is rather time consuming and due to the fact that project work is normally done by 2 or more people, students tend to throw the work responsibility to the other group members.
As a result, they would stand to lose as they could not learn much from the project.
I think, the best form of assessment would be doing individual work.
Because student will not only gain knowledge but also learn to be more independent.

I agree with Crystal. Groupwork takes a lot of time as group members needs each other's agreement before proceeding with decisions. The work load divided might also be unequal, which is unfair. Each individual have their own way of working, so some might excel in group work and some individually. Those excel individually will be affected alot because the groupwork brings down his/her normal performance.

I agree with crystal.Groupwork is taking way too much time and it might not be effective.Unresponsible group members may push all the work to those more hardworking one and get the undeserved marks without putting any effort.Hence,it is an unfair assessment as workload might not be distributed equally and not everyone learns the knowledge of the project.

I agree with crystal that project work is not the best form of assessment. Project work is too time consuming and it may not bring out the best of each individual. I also agree that the best form of assessment would be doing individual work. Everyone has their own views and opinons and their sytle of completing the project may be different, thus, its unfair to gauge someone using project work

I agree with cyrstal that group work is not the best form of assessment. It is time consuming and does not really show that capabilites of each individual. In a group, there may be some who overpower the others and thus dominate the whole group which will be unfair to the members. There could also be cases whereby the quieter ones do not voice out their opinions and just follow the crowd. Thus grading students in this way could be an advantage or disadvantage to a individual depending on their behaviour during group work.

In my opinion, project work has its advantage and disadvantage.
In project work, we have to work with people of different characters, so it's never easy. For instance, some team members may be very serious with the work while others may take it lightly.
Project work are graded based on the report and/or presentation. Factors such as contribution, work load and fairness, are what lecturers cannot observe. Hence, students may not be graded fairly.
However, as the saying goes, two heads are better than one. In team work, we may have the opportunity to learn from someone who is better than us. In addition, in a team where the bonding is good and with serious members putting in great effort together, different ideas will be generated and everyone would be able to learn from one another and enjoy themselves in the process of it.

Project work has both advantages and disadvantages.
It takes people to be comfortable in that group for things to work out. However, if the team members in the group do not coorporate or are not able to get along well..then project work has failed its purpose.
Project work helps people to cultivate a good way of learning together by sharing experiences and letting one be more open.
Project work is essential. This is so as in the outside world, we cannot choose who we will be working with and stuff like that. Therefore project helps enhance us and prepare us for the many things ahead of life.

Yes, i agreed with candy!
Project work has its good and bad.
Good is that, more ideas will be generated and better results will be produced in some way or rather. Why? because there is always someone who is there to check if you are at the right track or not. In addition, if there are problems in which you alone can'tpossibly solve it, that's where the advantage of group work comes in.
NOt only so, upon working with a group of people, you tends to see the true colours of your friends and what type of 'worker' they are group under. Or, you are more bonded woth each other!
Bad/ disadvantages are that, Yes, it's too time consuming and people tends to have different ideas and thoughts. In addition, at times decision have to be made by all! thus, we need 'regular' meet up so that everyone knows what's going. With that, we understand the fact that not all people likes often meeting and tends to spilt the task. Which ended up having wrong idea in the individuals- worse! i guess, it's the tactics how how individuals agreed to work on.
Therefore, to conclude, everything has its good and bad! Don't always think of the unwanted side and left out the advantages of the other!

i completely disagree with the statement. i believe project work is the WORST form of assessment of an individual.
Firstly and most prominently, project work is team based, and that alone is reason enough not to use project work to assess an individual. he or she is only making a significant contribution to a task at hand, and it does not reflect the real capabilities of that individual, mainly due to limitations of expression in working as a team.
Also, referring to the above point, project work can be deemed an unfair form of assessment. This is because one member in a project group might have contributed much more to the project than another, however that person will end up with the same marks.

referring to Barney's comment
I agree with Barney.although i have mixed feelings about project work,it is essential in the corporate world. I feel that is the main reason why schools are adopting a project learning approach, so as to prepare us in our future endeavors . We require skills such as being adaptive to a person's character and how to come up with a mutually agreeable solution while working as a team, and i believe project work helps us develop those attributes. But don't get me wrong, i am still against project work for assessment.

In my opinion, project work can only be part of a form of assessment. I believe it tests on how you are able to perform in a 'group' environment. Meanwhile, I still think it is also mandatory to have individuals stuff like test and assignment to give a standard on how one is able to perform individually. Education is like a multigrain bread, it must contain different kind of nutrients as a whole to benefit the consumer.

I agree with Trevor's opinion.
Firstly, I must say that working in a team is vital in today's job world.
Therefore, implementing project work in school is a good stepping stone to prepare us to become an effective team player in the future.
Moreover, in project work, we also learn that application of EQ concepts is vital when working with different personalities of people, in order to harness their full contribution potential.
Although not everyone is born a leader, we can try to make he/she feel like a leader in his/her own way.
