    Personnally, as a DARCH student, i still feel that projects are the best. No doubt that exams can test one's ability and intelligence. However, if one is talented but has poor acadamic skills, can he still pass the assessments?

    Well, in our case, the taletnted are much better than the smart ones acadamically. By sheer hardwork and determination, one can be assessed accordingly.

    I feel that exams can be a wrong judgement of one intelligence as well. If the student is a straight A student but at the end of the year exam, he/she falls sick and does the exam badly, does that prove that she isnt smart enough?

    Therefore, i feel that projects is the best form of assessment.

    Project work is indeed a good form of assessements. We can not only put the students theorical aspect of knowledge into test, but we can also test their practical ability in real life simulations of work. Yes, tests and exams do determine the level of intellectual of students, but with good theory and a very weak practical will be futile in the end. Thus, to ensure that students are well -versed in both, project work is the best way.

    project work allows a student to experience real world situations that are not shown in the textbook.

    One can be able to be book smart, but will he be street smart in the things that he or she does when they are thrown into the working industry.

    With project work, it teaches students qualities that incorporate emotion quotent that allows him to work with other members of the group and how to deal with problems responsibly and deligently.

    Project work allows one to not oly learn how they would "survive" in the real world, but also teaches others to learn how to go about the real world working with others.

    I would like to comment on clifford's comment.

    I agree with his comment which states that 'with good theory and a very weak practical will be futile in the end.'

    In future, when we step out to work in the society, we not only need knowledge but also communication skills, high EQ etc.

    In school, through paper work, we learn all the theories.
    Only through projects, we can experience what exactly it is like to work with people and master the skills needed for our job next time.

    I do agree that project work is indeed a good form of assesment. The main objective of having a project work is to test whether one is able to handle the challenges of the task that is in hand as a group. It also tests ones aility to work cohesively as a team and not take things into ones hand.It also helps to stimulate the real life situations in the workforce. As such students will be able to think rationally, work as a unit and also learn to get over differences.By doing all this, they would be able to handle such tasks with ease once they enter the workforce.

    Strongly agree. It is because i personally feels that by doing project work, we can work in groups and know each other better throught it. Even if we are doing individual we will help each other in a way. Tests and exams are not flexible. Unlike project work, it allows the mind to be creative.

    I strongly agree with that because Project work can work in a group or individually that we can help each other when facing a problem, we can solve the problem together and we can also share our idea. So throughout the project we can know each other better. Doing project work can be very flexible compared to examination.

    I am a supporter of practical assessments. As one who has been in and out of the working society, i understand the need to have the skills.

    But i wouldn't say that it is the best.
    The best, in my point, is the combination of both. I was a very theory-based student back in JC and there are some things we need to learn before applying the practical. Take Chemistry for example. Since almost all has taken this subject before, don't you agree with the knowledge of the chemicals, entering the labs will then be safer?

    Therefore, i believe that practical and theory adds up to be the best assessment.

    i feel that project work is the best form of assessment in way that it helps to widen the idea or knowledge of a member from the group when they brainstorms theri ideas. furthermore project will increase the creativity of the student and also the change the way they think, think outside the box.

    I agree that project work is the best form of assessment.

    Project work can test our knowledge, our flexibilty and our creativity.It caters almost what the real world is having. What the people do when they are working.

    For me, as a dARCH student, project work is part of my life now. Everyday, lecturers will give us new tasks to do. New projects to complete. Definitely, many deadlines to rush and many midnight oil to burn. The scenario is almost like we are working now.

    Compared to the academic written examination, project work is more practical.

    I do agree what Yiling had written.If we do not study and know the knowledge well, we cannot do anything for the project works as we know nothing.Do not know what to answer the question.Do not know what the question mean. Do not know how to write.

    Overall project works is the best form of assessment.

    I agree that project work is the best form of assesment. By having project work, you could learn more by having others' feedbacks and ideas. They could also correct you when you are doing the wrong things. They could also give you ideas on how to improve on ourselves. Project work could also be a way of knowing the other member much better.

    I agree that project work is the best form of assessment. Through individual and group projects, it could assess is on different areas which theory exams could not. Theory exams could not test how good our team work is , but group projects could, coz to make a successful gropu project, the team must co-operate with each other. Projects also test how we deal with situations which would not come out in textbooks. Thus i think that project works is the best. lol

    i agree that project work is the best form of assesment.

    project work not only tests u on what u hav learnt but also on how u apply what u have learnt to ur project.it tests ur knowlegde as well as ur application of ur knowledge in real life.
    it will be no use if u hav all the knowledge in the world but u dont know how to use it..you only know how to ans the examination qn perfectly.
    project work lets u be more creative n imaginative. its more flexible and lets u show wad u can truly be capable of.

    be it in grps or alone, project work introduces to u the skills tt are needed in the working world. these projects are truly preparing u the biggest examination of ur life. ur career. lols :)
    thus it is the best form of assesment.

    Yes. I agree that project work is the best form of assessment. Nowadays when we go out to work everything is in project work, it is either a group or individual project. Therefore I think in school we should given more of project work instead as it is the best form of assessment which we can train in all aspect such as time management, group discussion etc.

    As an archi student, i would agree that Project work is the best form of assessment. project work would be able to test how we're able to apply the skills that we've learnt, time management, creativity etc. The results of theory based exams can only show how much you've understood or studied. In reality, it's the result that shows our standard, therefore, regardless of how we're graded, we've to do well.

    I would say that project work is the best form of assesment.Why so?
    it stands higher than tests and exams, cause project work actually demands more. You often get a chance to work with others, this of which prepares you for you career in future, so i guess, project work would be a good chance for you to interact with others. besdies thatpoint, it trains us mentally, to source out infomation by ourselves, instead of constantly going by the book, literally.
